Talk about bad timing. Today when I was in the parent pick up line at the kids school the storm alarms started blaring....the kids were on the top step of the staircase coming down to the carpool lanes and were just standing there and waiting for the next teacher to come and usher them to the car. Well, the storm alarms changed all of that so, the teachers ushered all of the children back inside the building and shut the door behind them. After what felt like HOURS (which it was really only about a single minute) someone came out to inform us they were not allowed to release the kids until the warnings expire but if we wanted to get out of our cars and pull our children from the school we were allowed to do so.
Naturally, I ran up the stairs and by the holding area (without fully going inside because I had girl baby in the car) and they called my kids. As soon as I see Isabella I can tell she was upset. Her face was red and tears were streaming down her face. With my own fears of storm alarms/tornadoes**, and then seeing her so upset I about threw up right then and there. I had to do deep breathing exercises to keep from crying. It was hard, you guys.
Anyway, by the time I get all four buckled in (I take 2 kids home after school) the alarms weren't sounding any more. I take the bonus kids home and then head home and that's when the alarms started sounding again. I get the kids inside and the girl baby inside and we all go to the basement where we stayed for roughly 30 minutes. The storm alarms finally stopped blaring and to tell you the truth we only had some light rain at that time. We've had light thunderstorms the rest of the evening. I'm so thankful the storms didn't get severe.
Today's temps made it to about 70F and I hear we will probably have some snow tomorrow. Wed/Thurs high temps should be 46F and 33F. Thanks, Missouri, for showing me all four seasons in the matter of a couple of days.
**When I was in the third grade a terrible tornado really tore apart the town where I lived. It completely demolished the elementary school I attended. I was practically IN the tornado as the wind from the tornado pushed the car I was in across the road and into a parking lot.

| It's such a shame when Toys R Us leaves a sample battery in one of their display cars. The kids took turns drunk driving. Or at least that's what it looked like. |
| They changed the graham crackers and now their S'mores isn't as delicious. I was disappointed. |
How scary! I can't imagine not being able to get to my daughter right away :(. Love the pic of them drunk driving though ;). Lol!
ReplyDeleteOh sweetie, bless your heart! I can't imagine the stress the being responsible for four little people during all that chaos would bring.
ReplyDeletewhat a scary thing! For you and the kids. Glad everyone is ok. We're waiting for the storms to start here in NJ.
