As of right now this very second school has not been cancelled or called off or closed for the day tomorrow (Thursday). As of right now, over 300 schools in the 'metro' area have been cancelled for tomorrow due to the threat of severe weather. And by severe, I mean ice, sleet, snow storm. Mostly ice/sleet.
The forecasters predict this storm will roll in around 9am (near the beginning of the school day) and once it gets here it will accumulate quickly. Even the weather forecasters were saying crazy things like, 'If you are a school administrator and are wondering about what to do for tomorrow, call school because you don't want the buses out and trying to get the kids home in this storm'.
Wouldn't it be funny if the jet stream moves far to the north and all we get is rain? Or if the dry air that is in the atmosphere right now just dries out the clouds that are rolling in and we get nothing but an overcast day?
Where you live, do you ever get snow days? Is school ever cancelled due to weather? I mean, honestly, what do the kids in Southern California look forward to? Do they ever get days off due to weather or something or is it pretty much a go all school year long? To be honest, it's been fun to share superstitions with the kids and see them get all excited over the prospect of having a 'snow' day.

What's the deal with flushing ice cubes?
ReplyDeleteSchool is ALWAYS open here in Northern Alberta. Even if it's 40 below. Whether the busses run is the biggest question, and thankfully we check the website to see if ours cancelled.
